Washington Commanders leader Dan Quinn has admitted he bears a portion of the blame for a serious ailment to the squad’s signal-caller, Daniels.
Particulars of the Harm and Situation
Daniels, who had one of the greatest first-year performances of all time last season, suffered a displaced elbow joint in Sunday’s defeat to the Seattle Seahawks. Even though the quarterback passes with his dominant arm, the injury has placed his campaign in doubt. The injury was significant enough that the television broadcast did not show replays and multiple athletes turned away as Daniels was attended to by team doctors.
Backlash and Coach’s Reaction
Coach Quinn came under criticism as numerous felt Daniels ought not to have been on the field to begin with. The injury occurred in the fourth quarter with the Commanders behind 38-7, making a recovery unlikely. It is typical in such circumstances for clubs to put in their backup quarterback to avoid injuries to their first-string player.
“I understand. I’ve been thinking about it nonstop, too, and, wow, I erred,” Quinn remarked of his choice to leave Daniels in the match. “That is 100% my fault.”
Fallout and Team Outlook
Mariota will be the Commanders’ starting quarterback going forward, but he will lead a roster in disarray. Following making the conference title game the prior year behind Daniels’s brilliance, the team have struggled this season. They also lost defensive back Lattimore (torn ACL) and pass-catcher Luke McCaffrey (broken collarbone) on Sunday, and have a number of other starters on injured reserve. The Washington squad are three wins and six losses on the season, and it would require a huge turnaround for the team to reach the playoffs.
